Optimizing your website so that you will obtain a high search engine result position is what SEO techniques are all about. 65% of all websites visited start with a search from a search engine.

For people to find your site through a search engine, your site will require a high search Engine results position (SERP). This means when people search keywords phrases like SEO techniques, they will find you site on the first page of the search engine results.Being on the 10th page is very likely not going to get you any traffic.

Getting a high SERP is a combination of a number of techniques. Leaving out any of the techniques  on the following list, which are services that I can provide after an audit of your site, can translate in your page not getting a high ranking position in search engines results, as it could.

SEO Techniques & Services

Domain Names

Choose your site domain name that contains words from your primary keyword phrase. You keyword phrase also should in many cases go in your domain name. If this is not the case, your URL’s rewriting is necessary, and must be applied to all your domain pages.

Keyword Phrases

Use keywords that are being searched for, and  add keyword synonyms to your content. Put the keyword phrases in the title tag. Insert the keyword phrases in the the first headline tag <h1>. Keywords synonyms in the other headlines <h2>, <h3>. And use keyword phrases from the pages that link to your page.

Keyword Density

Keyword density is a very important part of search engine optimization. It is the ratio that your keyword or keyword phrase represents in proportion to your web page text. Too high a keyword density can get your site to be blacklisted. And you don’t wabt that. Your keywords should be at the top of your page, and your keyword phrase be in either every paragraph or every second paragraph depending on your paragraph length.

Title & Meta Description Tag

Construction of your title tag is one of the most important things you need to do. Each page should have a different title with 2 or 3 of your keyword phrases at the beginning. When search engine results are displayed the title is the first thing people see. The description tag will be either be taken from your meta name description  or from the first sentence on a page, and will appear just below your title.  The description should have 2 or 3 of your keyword phrases at the beginning as  well as your first sentence.

Meta Keywords Tag

The meta keywords tag is not as relevant as it used to be and and it is said that Google doesn’t look at it anymore, but this tag is there and might as well be used.

Author & Robots Tags

The author tag should contain the name of the company that owns the site. This will help you get a first position for your company’s name (and that’s a minimum).

Netlinking

Netlinking is one of the most important things to consider in SEO. This involves creating inbound links coming from other web sites related to your theme, and that preferably have a high page rank, so as to create high value links. Such links can be created with partner websites, on targeted directories and forums, or on article directories.

Sitemap

Including a sitemap of your site will help crawlers from search engines help indexing your pages.
